#16 Around Bornholm from Rügen 2023
**Sailing trip in the Baltic Sea: From Rügen to Bornholm and the Pea Islands**
There is hardly anything that can calm the soul as much as the gentle rocking of a boat on the waves, the sound of the wind in the sails and the endless expanse of the sea. In this blog post I would like to tell you about our sailing adventure in the beautiful Baltic Sea, where we started from Rügen, visited Bornholm and the Pea Islands and finally experienced a spectacular night on our return trip to Rügen.
### Rügen: Our starting point
Our journey began in the picturesque islands of Rügen, a true paradise for sailors. Here, in one of Germany's largest sailing areas, we got our sailing yacht ready and prepared for the upcoming journey. Rügen itself is a beautiful place with its impressive chalk cliffs and numerous charming harbors to explore.
### Bornholm: A jewel in the Baltic Sea
Our first big stop took us to Bornholm, a Danish island known for its stunning nature and rich history. The yacht harbor of Rønne welcomed us with open arms. Here we experienced the authentic Danish flair, enjoyed local delicacies in the cozy restaurants and explored the island.
The highlight of our visit to Bornholm was undoubtedly the trip to the legendary Hammershus Fortress, which sits high above the cliffs and offers breathtaking views of the sea. It was a journey back in time as we heard the stories of the island's defense against pirates and conquerors.
### The Pea Islands: A hidden paradise
From Bornholm we continued our journey to the Pea Islands, a group of small islands and skerries that glitter like green jewels in the Baltic Sea. Here we found true peace and seclusion. The harbors on the Pea Islands are small and inviting, perfect for sailors seeking untouched nature and the silence of nature.
We spent the day exploring and watching the fascinating sunset. We spent the evening in the picturesque fishing village, where we enjoyed fresh fish and local specialties. The Pea Islands are a real paradise for nature lovers and offer the opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
### The spectacular night trip back to Rügen
Our return trip from the Pea Islands to Rügen was to be an unforgettable experience, even if it turned out differently than we had planned. Unfortunately, the wind died down and we had to motor through the night. But even in this seemingly disappointing situation, we experienced something magical.
During the night we watched the sunset, the moon rise and finally the sunrise. The play of colors in the sky and the silence of the night on the water were overwhelming. It was a time of reflection and wonder at the beauty of nature and the humility that comes with sailing.
Our sailing trip in the Baltic Sea was an unforgettable journey full of adventures and unexpected moments. We enjoyed the beauty of nature, experienced the hospitality of the people in the ports and enjoyed the freedom of sailing on the open sea. It was a trip that reminded us of the importance of following the call of the sea and discovering the wonders of the world that stretch beyond the horizon.
