#1 Great Belt 2014
My first trip on a sailing boat. We started in Nyborg, right by the bridge over the Great Belt. The current here is quite strong. With the wind coming from the north, we were tackling against the wind most of the time. Man, I had so much fun. The boat on its side, the wind on the bow, the boat was doing almost 6 knots and the rain was coming from above.
Denmark forms a natural land bridge at the western end of the Baltic Sea and this is where the best Danish sailing areas are located. Charter options are available in the Kattegat area and around the islands of Funen and Zealand. You can sail comfortably along the coast or between the smaller islands with your yacht. There is a good selection of marinas, yacht harbors and anchorages.
The tidal range in this area is not high. In narrow waterways the current can reach considerable speeds. This sailing area is suitable for beginners with little experience as well as experienced crews.
From the book: Paradise Sailing Areas by Rad Heikel
Our trip went from Nyborg via Kerteminde to Samsø and Ebeltoft and back.
In total we covered 171 nautical miles in one week.
