#17 Farewell round of Wilfried in the Little Belt
**Sailing adventure in the Little Belt: A journey full of highlights and challenges**
September 2023 will always be a special memory for us sailing fans, because we had the pleasure of setting off on an exciting sailing trip from Flensburg to the Little Belt of Denmark. We not only experienced breathtaking landscapes, but also some navigational challenges and unforgettable encounters in the ports we visited.
**Flensburg: A promising start**
Our journey began in Flensburg, a charming town on the German Baltic coast. Here, where the flair of sailing history is in the air, we set sail. Flensburg was not only the starting point of our journey, but also a place where we experienced maritime history first hand. With a steady breeze and a view of the picturesque sailing ships in the harbor, we started our sailing trip full of anticipation.
**Sonderborg: A hospitable port**
Our first stop was Sonderborg, a pretty town in Denmark. The port of Sonderborg proved to be extremely hospitable and offered all the amenities that sailors need. Especially the kiosk right on the quay where we got great "beer to go". A perfect stopover to recharge our energy reserves.
**Genner Bugt: The tranquility of the anchorage**
After a restful night in Sonderborg, we headed to Genner Bugt, a quiet anchorage surrounded by unspoilt nature. This silence and solitude, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, allowed us to experience the true beauty of sailing in the midst of nature. Here we could fully enjoy the peace and serenity of the water.
**Lyo Haven: A Little Gem**
Our journey continued to Lyo Haven, a little gem on the Danish coast. The harbor impressed us not only with its picturesque location, but also with its well-equipped facilities for sailors. Here we were able to refresh ourselves, stock up on provisions and recharge our batteries.
**Aeroskobing: A charming island town**
The trip to Aeroskobing, a picturesque island town on the island of Aero, was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our trip. Here we experienced the authentic Danish island ambience with its colorful half-timbered houses and narrow streets. The port of Aeroskobing was busy, but we still found a place. It is worth arriving early to ensure you get a berth.
**The return to Sonderborg and Flensburg**
After all the fascinating experiences, we set off back to Sonderborg and finally to Flensburg. The trip was full of emotions because we knew that our dear skipper Wilfried would no longer be sailing with us after 42 years at sea. His experience and knowledge had made our trip possible and we were grateful for all the unforgettable moments.
**Navigational challenges and encounters**
During our trip we not only experienced the beauty of the Danish coast, but also some navigational challenges. The stretch from Aeroskobing to Marschtal was particularly demanding. The narrow waters and the numerous islands required precise navigation and a skilled hand at the helm. It was exciting to master these challenges together and demonstrate our sailing skills.
Another highlight of our trip were the exciting conversations with the neighboring boats. Whether it was the sailor who was traveling with his sons and their friends and who was brilliant at his skipper's skills, or the sailing coach from OCEAN'S ELEVEN who told us about her adventurous Atlantic crossing, including a collision with a sleeping whale - these encounters enriched our trip and made us feel part of the global sailing community.
**Many thanks to Skipper Wilfried**
Finally, we would like to express our sincere thanks to our skipper Wilfried. His years of experience, his passion for sailing and his patience made our trip an unforgettable experience. Wilfried, you will always be a part of our sailing history and we are deeply grateful for everything you taught us.
Our sailing trip in September 2023 will be remembered for a long time. From the picturesque harbors to the navigational challenges and inspiring encounters, it was a trip that further ignited our passion for sailing. We are already looking forward to new adventures on the high seas and to setting sail again to explore the world.
