#7 Dalmatia Croatia May 2018

In 2018 we ventured to Croatia for the first time. And to say one thing in advance: It won't be the last time we explore this fantastic area.

I fell in love with the country and the people from the very first moment. Of course, the sunny weather also played a part.

For me it is the first time sailing in swimsuits.

If you set off from Trogir on a sailing boat like we did, there are many interesting ports and places to visit. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Hvar : Hvar is a beautiful island known for its stunning scenery, crystal clear waters and lively atmosphere. There are many anchorages and marinas along the coast that allow you to explore the island and its numerous beaches, bays and historical sites.

  2. Brac : The island of Brac is another attractive option that offers a variety of anchorages and marinas. You can visit the picturesque towns of Supetar and Bol, known for their beaches and historical sites.

  3. Vis : Vis is a remote island perfect for a quiet and peaceful stay. Here you will find some of the best beaches in Croatia as well as a rich history and culture.

  4. Korcula : Korcula is another picturesque island to visit. You can explore the historic town of Korcula, considered the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo, as well as explore a variety of beaches and coves in the area.

  5. Split : The city of Split is the largest city in the region and offers a rich culture and history as well as a variety of shopping and entertainment options. The city also has a well-equipped marina and is a popular stopover for sailors.

We start with the boat handover at the jetty of Ultra-Sailing Charter. I can highly recommend this charter company. Our experience has been consistently good.

We choose Rogoznica as our first port. It's a very nice spot to moor. As the Bora hits us there the very next day, we decide to spend a day in port and take a taxi over to Šibenik . There we explore the town and the Barone Fortress. The Barone Fortress is a historic fortress that sits on a hill above the town and offers a spectacular view of the surrounding area.

The fortress was built in the 17th century and served as a defense against Turkish attacks.

Over the years, the fortress has been restored and expanded many times and has served various purposes, including as a prison and as a barracks. Today, Barone Fortress is a popular tourist destination and an important part of Šibenik's cultural heritage.

Visitors can climb the fortress and enjoy panoramic views of the city of Šibenik, the surrounding islands and the sea. Within the fortress walls, there is also a museum documenting the history of the fortress and the city of Šibenik. The Barone Fortress is a fascinating historical monument and a must-see for all visitors interested in history and architecture.

Our next stop is Milna. Milna is a picturesque village on the island of Brač in Croatia, known for its natural beauty and charm. Here are some of the things that make Milna special:

  1. Port : Milna port is one of the most beautiful and safest in Croatia. The bay offers protection from wind and waves and is a popular anchorage for sailors and boaters.

  2. Architecture : Milna has a rich history and tradition in boat building, which is reflected in the architecture of the village. The beautiful, traditional stone houses that stand along the waterfront and in the narrow streets of the village are a special feature.

  3. Beaches : Milna has some of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia. Milna Bay itself has a lovely pebble beach and there are also several bays in the area known for their crystal clear waters and natural beauty.

  4. Food and drink : Milna is known for its excellent cuisine based on fresh seafood and local products. There are many restaurants and cafes along the waterfront offering a variety of dishes and drinks.

All in all, Milna is a charming and picturesque village known for its natural beauty, architecture, beaches, food and activities. It is a great place for anyone looking for a relaxing holiday in Croatia.

We continue to Stari Grad . Stari Grad is a popular destination for sailors and offers a variety of anchorages and marinas along its coast.

Here are some reasons why you should take your sailing boat to Stari Grad:

  1. Scenic Beauty : Stari Grad is surrounded by a beautiful landscape consisting of lush green hills and turquoise blue sea. You will be amazed by the breathtaking views on your sailing trip.

  2. Historical Heritage : Stari Grad is a town with a rich history dating back to ancient times. There are many historical monuments, ruins and buildings to explore, such as the remains of the ancient city of Pharos and the 16th century St. Stephen's Church.

  3. Culinary Experiences : In Stari Grad you can enjoy delicious Croatian cuisine, characterized by fresh fish, seafood and local products such as olive oil and wine.

Overall, Stari Grad offers a wealth of activities and attractions for sailors, making it a worthwhile destination.

Before we return to Trogir on the last day, we moor in Marina Agana for the last night. Marina Agana is a modern marina on the Croatian coast, located between the cities of Trogir and Split. Here are some of the features that make Marina Agana stand out:

  1. Location : Marina Agana is located close to some of Croatia's most beautiful islands and bays and is an ideal starting point for sailing trips along the Dalmatian coast.

  2. Capacity : The marina can accommodate up to 134 boats and yachts with a maximum length of 30 meters. There are also berths for mega yachts up to 40 meters.

  3. Facilities : Marina Agana has modern facilities and amenities including a petrol station, water supply, electricity connections, Wi-Fi, showers, toilets, washing machines and dryers.
