#8 One week catamaran sailing training in Dalmatia, Croatia October 2018
Day 1 - Arrival in Trogir:
With anticipation and a little nervousness, Tobias and I arrived at the large marina in Trogir, where we would charter our catamaran for sailing training. Trogir is a charming town with a rich history and a picturesque old town that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For sailors, the well-equipped marina offers an ideal base for exploring the Croatian coast.
Day 2 - Rogoznica :
Our first stop took us to Rogoznica, a popular anchorage for sailors. The sheltered bay offers excellent conditions for practicing maneuvers, mooring, unmooring and anchoring. The picturesque port town is known for its relaxed atmosphere and the traditional Dalmatian houses along the waterfront.
Day 3 - Primošten :
The next morning we set course for Primošten, a charming island town on a headland. The location of the port is unique and offers breathtaking views. For sailors, there are numerous opportunities to sail in the waters around the island of Šibenik and explore the beauty of the surrounding islands.
Day 4 - Back to Rogoznica:
After having plenty of time to practice in Primošten, we returned to Rogoznica for another day to consolidate our skills. Rogoznica Bay is an ideal place to practice anchoring and enjoy the sunset over the horizon.
Day 5 - Hvar :
The next stop was the beautiful island of Hvar, a popular destination for sailors in the Adriatic. The island offers numerous sheltered bays and anchorages, perfect for relaxed sailing and swimming in crystal clear waters. The port of Hvar is known for its lively nightlife and the opportunity to taste delicious Croatian specialties in the restaurants.
Day 6 - Milna :
On the penultimate day of our sailing training, we sailed to Milna, a picturesque harbor on the island of Brač. Milna offers sheltered anchorages and a relaxed atmosphere, ideal for relaxing and unwinding. The charming stone houses and picturesque surroundings make Milna a popular destination for sailors who want to enjoy the pristine beauty of Dalmatia.
Day 7 - Back to Trogir:
Our last day of sailing took us back to our starting point, the ACI Marina Trogir. We entered the harbor with mixed feelings, happy about what we had experienced and learned, but also a little sad that the week had passed so quickly. The return to Trogir gave us a last look at the charming old town and the opportunity to do some last-minute shopping.
Conclusion:
The week in Dalmatia was an unforgettable experience for Tobias and me. Thanks to the professional training and support from our skipper, we learned a lot about sailing a catamaran. The route offered varied opportunities to explore different port towns and bays, and the Croatian coast showed itself at its most beautiful.
The places along the route were specifically tailored to the needs of sailors and offered sheltered anchorages, picturesque harbors, beautiful views and the opportunity to perfect the sailing craft on a catamaran.
We return from our sailing adventure not only with new skills, but also with wonderful memories of the fascinating Dalmatian coast. We are sure that this will not be our last sailing adventure and we cannot wait to go back out to sea and discover new horizons.
